Our new, full roll out will be on this Friday, July 24 2009 when GreenTV will be featured in USA Today along with Sir Richard Branson, Climate Prosperity Pick up a copy or go to USA Today.com on Friday to see the Green Business Special on-line. And, as always, my best to all. Lori Lake GreenTV Massachuse Lori and Green TV, In my humble, yet somewhat educated opinion, Vermont is the greenest state. Not just because it means Green Mountains, but because since long before other states were even thinking green, Vermont was already there. Frankly, Vermont has never had gads of money until it became a second home haven to NYC, MA and NJ, instead, it always had the laid back, "hippie" in its persona. But it is so much more. I moved to Vermont in 1991 from not far over the border in upstate New York. I found my first home there in Pawlet, where I rented a house from Glenn Munson. That little farmhouse came complete with a little green house off the back of it. Glenn lived next door in his renovated barn. Glenn was spearheading one of the states efforts in solar, greenhouse technology. Somewhere I do have one of his original brochures. Glenn has told me so many stories of the late 60's and early 70's where he was involved with spearheading or participating in statewide projects. As I lived ther in the 90's, I was so pleased to be involved in all the recycling taking place. Centers are readily available, and unlike some other places I hae since lived, no one just tells me they bury it in a a landfill when I call about recycling. I have so may fond memories of Vermont, the lack of billboards (eye pollution), the rules for construction, the windmills on Equinox Mountain, and Green Up Day! A statewide initiative that promotes personal involvement: http://www.greenupvermont.org/history.php and to this day, I still follow it's code and have adopted two miles of road to protect in the state I now live in. Since the 1960s, Vermont's economy has grown significantly with booms in the tourist industry and in exurban homebuilding and with the attraction of high-technology firms to the Burlington area. In recent years, prosperity has to some degree conflicted with concern for environmental issues. Nonetheless, the state has been active in attempts to preserve its natural beauty, enacting very strict laws regarding industrial pollution and the conservation of natural resources. I could go on and on, but let me offer me y resources to you if you wish to have further discussions - Glenn is a living history of environmental activism in Vermont. Hi Lori ,
There are more than 10 each large, medium & small industrial state, I think. May be, I am incorrect as I am not from USA.
Now in context to the above discussion , I think if we can run a comparative analysis of the increasing reduction of greenhouse gas emission etc & potential reduction of environmental threats within this sample states along with simultaneous growth of industrial business significantly for a period of time, I think we may be able to locate the greenest state in USA & the early successful implementer of this Go Green consensus.
I think only analyzing within industry as a sample as I tried above , is only a first step to Go Green.
Go Green is much more beyond than that & it's applicable to each & every factors constituting this entire earth. It's a Innovation ! I would like to thank Green TV , United States of America & every one for such a nice discussion
Cheers
Joy
